Hand-sewn handbag

So this is the handbag I was talking about. I took me around 30 hours to make it and I am so happy I finally finished! I made this with some old jeans, newspaper (on the inside), some scrap pieces of cloth and a strap from another bag. The idea is completely mine, and I practically improvised the whole thing, not knowing much about any particular techniques to use. In fact, my sewing machine does not work very well (or perhaps I just don't know how to use it) so I made the whole thing by hand. Totally handmade! Yes. My fingers do hurt. Well hopefully this was worth the effort and you like it, and more importantly (as I can already guarantee that I like it) that it will be of use and will not fall into pieces on the first day. First of all, I decided the dimensions of my bag. I decided to make it 24 cm x 52 cm.
I then cut out a piece of white fabric bigger than that, 28 cm x 56 cm

I cut out three cardboard templates: 5 cm x 5 cm, 5 cm x 9 cm, and 9 cm x 9 cm
Using these templates I cut out the following pieces of cloth:

I then cut the cardboard templates into 4 cm x 4 cm, 4 cm x 8 cm, and 8 cm x 8 cm pieces

I traced the recently cut templates onto the pieces of cloth

And I laid all my pieces of cloth down onto the large piece of white fabric to decide the order in which I would sew them

And then I started sewing. This step was the one that took me the longest.

I then drew the dimensions of the bag onto the back of the fabric.

And also drew the dimensions on a piece of newspaper.

I then placed a piece of plastic film behind this piece of newspaper and another beneath it (one that would be visible in the end product). This faced the 'pretty' side of the fabric.
I placed needles and began to sew (all except one side in order flip the cloth fabric and newspaper to their nicer sides)!

This is what was visible on the other side after sewing

And time to flip everything to their nicer sides!

I then cut some pockets out from my old jeans and sewed the onto the newspaper side of the handbag.
I cut the waist of my jeans and used that piece to sew onto the sides of the bag
I then sewed a button and a piece of string onto the whole thing, added a strap from an old bag and I'm finally done!!

I have started the complicated process of making myself a handbag out of some of my old jeans, newspaper, and other pieces of cloth - but I am far from finishing it.
My grandmother's birthday was coming up so I decided to interupt the process to make a much smaller item out of the same materials and technique as a gift for her.
So use your imagination to imagine how my handbag will look like!! I have never tried anything quite so complicated and my sewing machine does not work, so it will definetely take a lot of time!
I hope you like the little pouch I made for my grandmother and the instructions will come soon when I finish it!

Recycled Fan

How I made my own Haikufeel T-shirt

It had been a while since I had wanted to make my own t-shirt with the haikufeel logo, and I was so lucky to get the material to make one for christmas ! The steps were easy but to explain how to do it, I would have to explain the material you need, and you can always go to another website for that.

First, I printed the haikufeel logo in black and white and put my frame over it
Then I traced over the logo with some special paint

I dried it with a blow drier and waited for 10 minutes

Then I spread some special red paint over the other side.

I cleaned my frame so that only the red paint would stay, leaving blank spaces where I wanted the logo to be
I waited for it to dry (I did it in the evening, so I waited until the following morning)
I tried printing the logo twice on a piece of paper to make sure it worked

Just in case, I tried again on a piece of scrap cloth
Then I did the real thing on my shirt

And it ended up looking like this !!!

1. Cut some small boxes in half

2.Take a box and open it so it looks like this and add in the cut boxes by sticking them to each other with tape.

3. Add some newspaper in the left over space and write in the numbers.

4. Now you can open it and add in some surprises !

What you'll need:

Cardboard
Decorated/Coloured paper
Scissors
Glue and Tape
Pencil

1.) Trace your own foot on a piece of cardboard and leave some margin, and then cut it out.

2.) Trace the two pieces of cardboard on the coloured/decorated paper and cut them out of the paper.

3.) Glue the two pieces of paper on the two pieces of cardboard.

4.) If you want to make them high heels, glue in some heels! But make sure that they are full or else they well get squashed.

5.) Trace the length of your foot as shown on the picture on another piece of coloured/ decorated paper.

6.) Cut some strips along the lines drawn as shown on the picture.

7) Stick this piece of paper on your shoe

8.) AND TAADDDAAA!!!! Your shoe is made!

9) You might be able to walk with them... but be careful!

10) You can make your shoes look completely different by experimenting......

Newspaper Easter bunnies

Do you want an easy, simple way of making easter bunnies for easter? Then try this out. You only need a few basic materials easy to find at home (unless you have a "no publicity" sign on your mailbox).

Things you'll need:

Newspaper
Water
Sun (or something to dry the newspaper)
Paint (optional)
Your own hands

How to do it:

Take the newspaper and wet it.
Shape the newspaper into a round ball, adding pieces of newpaper if needed (the water acts like glue).
Make another ball the same way but slightly smaller (or bigger).
Make two bunny ears and a tail.
Let them dry in the sun (usually takes a day) , or dry them yourselves with a hairdryer (faster but more annoying).
When done, glue the parts together and paint them (if wanted).
Then, with a pencil first, draw the earholes, the nose and the mouth, and trace it again with a marker.
Now you're all done! Your newspaper easter bunny is finished!
